Photo: Lucjan Szewczyk/Press-Banner It is never to early to crank the engine on your team’s very own media blitz.

While everyone would love to have their very own stipple drawing show up in the Wall Street Journal, even a mention in your local paper can lead to bigger and better things. Two early case studies are PQ 2008 teams #23 Lucky and #71 Bagel Works. Both teams have received great press coverage recently including Team Lucky’s piece in Thursday’s Sacramento Bee, one of the five largest newspapers in California.

Check out their stories below and then start pitching your own team’s story to your local press! Then be sure to share with us your success and we will help spread the news via the PQ site!

Jeremy Olson says his team is different. His four-person team — dubbed “Team Lucky” — is training for the Primal Quest expedition adventure race scheduled for next June. It is one of the world’s most brutal endurance races, covering more than 400 miles in just 10 days, all of it by foot, bike and sheer strength of will.

Amazing racers

Folks from the San Lorenzo Valley push their bodies to the limit with multi-day races over varied terrain.

They call it “adventure racing.” Usually, the sport involves trail running, mountain biking and kayaking, but it might require swimming, canoeing, rappelling or other skills.

What’s more, participants might not even know ahead of time what to expect of a race — or even the route.

More than anything, it takes endurance.

“You push your body to its limits,” said Mila Olson, one of the four members of San Lorenzo Valley’s Team Lucky.
