World Class Operations
PQ has assembled a world class operations team. Detailed team bios will be posted over the next few weeks on the staff page.
The PQ Medical Team is staffed by PQ medical director veteran Dr. Bill Webster, his Adventure Med team, and over 20 physicians, paramedics, nurses and EMTs who have years of experience treating adventure racing injuries and ailments. Tim Soyars RN, CEN, NREMT-P returns as the Medical/SAR coordinator.
The PQ Climbing Team is staffed by world renowned climbers Jay Smith, Kitty Calhoun, Conrad Anker and a host of other world-class climbers. Jay Smith is ecstatic about the rock and ropes section they have designed for PQ Montana. Jay and his crew, who have been involved in every PQ and have many mountaineering records among them, created the 6+ mile ropes section in Utah, the longest ropes section ever created anywhere in the world. Conrad, recognized throughout the world for his mountaineering accomplishments, is also known for discovering George Mallory’s body on Mount Everest.
The PQ Water Team is managed by Josh Galt from Face Level Industries, who also works with the Gorge Games and the US National Whitewater Center. Josh has designed a Class II - IV white water section where PQ competitors will river board and paddle.
Media Coverage
The PQ Media Team, comprised of experienced writers, photographers and videographers, will be working diligently getting race updates sent around the globe via the new PQ website and various other adventure sports media outlets.
TV broadcasting has not been secured, although we are continuing our discussions with the major networks and several cable companies. There is a good chance for TV, but we are unable to make any promises at this time. We are also exploring HD satellite and “webisode” options for broadcasting footage of PQ.
Primal Quest will have a professional DVD documentary produced that will be distributed to the networks and cable companies, in the event we do not secure a TV deal prior to the event. This DVD will be produced by 4-time Telly Award Winner Nick Kleczewski, who has worked on the PQ production crew for all previous events. Teams will also be encouraged to contribute footage of their own action through a generous partnership with GoPro, which will outfit each team with a helmet or wrist camera!
The DVD will be made available to athletes, sponsors and to the general public.
Lodging/Race Events
Stay at one of the most beautiful resorts in the Rocky Mountains, Big Sky Resort before and after the event or camp at one of the many campgrounds in the Big Sky area:
