The Bozeman Daily Chronicle posted another article on Primal Quest today, this time revealing course details for the race that kicks off at 10 AM MDT today.
Late yesterday afternoon the details of the course were finally revealed to the teams, as maps and passports for the entire 525+ mile long course were handed over to team captains. The course winds through Gallatin National Forest, Paradise Valley, and the Crazy and Bridger mountains, with challenging trekking and mountain bike stages, intermixed with paddling sections on the Yellowstone and Gallatin Rivers, which are both swollen with recent snow melt, and moving fast.
Highlights of the course include a racing to the top of 11,138 foot Lone Mountain, a long and challenging ropes course that actually begins with a free climb, and paddling courses that have gone from flatwater sections to Class IV+ in the past week.
At 9 AM local time today, teams will begin lining up at the starting line. An hour later, the 2008 Primal Quest Expedition Adventure Race will be underway.
