Field Reports - Day 1

Racing has continued throughout the day today as teams make their way towards TA 2, which is already under a dark zone this evening. Teams that arrive at that point on the course will be forced to wait until 5 AM before entering the water for the first time and resuming racing.
At this point, Team Nike, PeakAdventure.com, and Merrell continue to lead the race. All three came through CP5 within minutes of one another, with PeakAdventure leading the pack, with Nike close behind. Rumor has it Nike made a pitstop for some ice cream along the way, so clearly they are enjoying the race so far. DART-Nuun and Team Bones hold down the fourth and fifth spots respectively.
The home team, Big Sky/Flathead Beacon continues to do well and are currently in 6th place as of this writing, and reports from the field indicate that teams are in good spirits, enjoying the course, and soaking up the scenery of Big Sky country.
In the photo attached to this article, Team BaseCamp refills their bladders at the south fork of the west fork of the Gallatin River, a body of water the teams will soon become intimately familiar with.
