David Poleto was born in El Paso, Texas, and has lived in the New Orleans area for 46 years. Married to a wonderful woman, Diana, for 26 years with one child, David Jr., age 16. First became interested in adventure sports in 1997 as a way to get healthy and lose weight. Now, at age 47, he has maintained a weight loss of 100 pounds for 11+ years. David enjoys sharing his weight loss story and hopes that others will see that you can make amazing changes at any point in your life.

David has competed in over 70 adventure races from 8 hours to 8+ days in length. He fulfilled a goal and dream of competing in and crossing the finish line of PrimalQuest Utah in 2006. As captain of Team Spirit of Louisiana, David spread the word of the many hardships that south Louisiana and Mississippi faced in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Having lost every possession in the storm, David did as so many others and found a way to rebuild his life and his family’s lives after the storm. David atrtributes adventure racing to the survival techniques and sheer determination in the face of such a tragedy.
