Sports has been in my blood, and Outside is where I was raised.
My Mother is very outgoing. As a crazy Ozzi, she was a sprint runner in contention for the Olympics.
a slalom ski accident in New Zealand took her out of the running…..
Her brother(my uncle), a competitve cyclist in his day, qualified for the 1960 games representing Australia.
Raised in the country near Ojai, CA ,I was given the freedom to roam about.
Streams, snowy mountains, and the Vast wild has always been my backyard…
I live at 4k surrounded by forestland, where I can climb to 9k in 5miles, out my back door!
I climbed Whitney when I was 15, attended high mountain training at 19 to climb Everest.
Unable to get a pass and/or chaperone for years, and it being so cliche these days, I gave up.
My 1st go at Competing was surfing, where I racked up 2 NSSA semi-pro championships at 18,
then a cracked skull, and a broken neck by 20….. and then my mother made me retire.
I competed at mountainbiking for 5 years, 2 years semi-pro Norba XC racing.
Got the 24hour bug in 1997, doing 4person teams, racing Moab, Donner, Idyllwild, and Canmore.
I have been recently pulled into the distance/endurance Downhill world where I just started Racing SuperD, and Downieville.
Future plans are to Race the Trans-Rockies and Alps, Megavalanche(Alps) and the Whistler.
My taste of adventure racing was the Hi-Tec adventure series in California, your basic bike, kayak, trail running, orienteering,
and skills test Race, but it gave me the Experience that will last a lifetime!
I also entered and was spanked by the the Leadville 100 in Colorado.
My Bike Folly’s include everything from satiric Maxxim Mag bike shout-out articles, testing urban environments on various MTB’s,
or comparing beach cruiser pricepoints in ratio to coolguy factor, stuff like that.
To a Bike Mag piece where we rode the jacumba desert for 3days, near the mexico border. Sporting Burro Bikes with BoB trailers and a kick ass Campsite Chef.
Biked unsupported the entire West Coast, from Vancouver to Santa Barbara.
tons of dirt detours. 1575miles in 26days
Oregon Interior Bike trip up the Rogue into the Deschutes, then back down the Umpqua(300+miles)
Future ride plans are Arizona trail (865mi) and main divide (1565mi) unsupported.
Worked Inside Sales for GT, MountainBike Modeling for VigorSports.
I’ve contracted R&D test ride analysis for Azonic/XXtension Bikes..
I Micro-Managed an American Pro FreeRider, based in Germany.
I am the course designer for the 24HR course at Vail Lake, Ca. AND
coop creator of the 24HR course in Idyllwild, my HomeTown.
