Bare Essentials Magazine Covers Primal Quest

Saturday, Nov. 15th 2008 3:00 PM

Australian magazine Bare Essentials, an online publication designed for the active, adventurous woman, has published several articles focused on Primal Quest in their November/December 2008 edition. You’ll find all three articles on pages 43-45.

The first story is a brief overview on the history of Primal Quest and adventure racing in general, while the second article gives a preview of Primal Quest Badlands and what teams can expect in South Dakota next August. The final story is an interview with mother-daughter racing team of Kathy Roche-Wallace and Melissa Hughes who competed in Montana in 2008.

The Bare Essentials web interface is a slick and easy to use, with plenty of content to read. It’s easy to page through the virtual edition, or jump directly to any article you like by typing it in at the top of the page. Thee are also tools for zooming in on the page or printing the stories that you like.

Thank you to Bare Essentials for this outstanding coverage for Primal Quest fans down under.

Primal Quest – 5th Edition

Wednesday, Sep. 12th 2007 3:46 PM

2008 marks the 5th Edition of Primal Quest. Since its inception, the “World’s Most Challenging Human Endurance Competition” has taken racers to some of the most beautiful and rugged locations in the continental United States.

The inaugural race in Telluride, CO (2002) was followed by Lake Tahoe, CA (2003) and the San Juan Islands of Washington State (2004). Always looking to provide competitors with a dramatic change of scenery from race to race, the 4th edition of PQ pitted teams against each other and the hostile summer desert environs of Moab, UT (2006).

With ten years of continual race production experience (including the Beast of the East, Expedition BVI, Mega Dose, Endorphin FIX, the USARA Nationals, and of course PQ Utah), Don Mann and his Primal Quest team are uniquely suited to orchestrate another stellar event in 2008.

Where will teams race next summer? Stay tuned to this site as the location of the 5th Edition of Primal Quest is soon to be announced.

[thumb:2004:r]2006 – The fifth and sixth days of racing meant little sleep for those at HQ. After a dramatic night on the final ropes section, Team Nike/PowerBlast won a tight race, crossing the finish line less than 22 minutes ahead of second place GoLite/Timberland.

Meanwhile, the race for many continued. Twelve hours after Nike finished, Backpacker Magazine editor, Jon Dorn and Team Bulleit, were hanging out in Moab waiting for the “dark zone” to clear. Listen to his podcast!
