Team Archipela Kinetic continues Primal Quest 2008 as an unranked team after a racer was forced to withdraw from the race due to non-life threatening medical condition. The remaining team members are en route to TA3 where they’ll begin the river boarding section.
After miles of trekking, the teams of Primal Quest 2008 presented by SPOT have begun to transition to the first paddling sections of this year’s race, a fast and furious romp down the icy Gallatin River. Checkout the conditions on the river in the video below, shot this morning as the first teams entered the river.
At 4:30am, the sky just barely lightened, signaling daybreak and initiating Day 2 of Primal Quest 2008: Montana. 15 Teams had arrived overnight, and 3 more arrived by 5:30. 38 teams remained on the course, welcoming the sunrise after hours of cold, dark, nighttime trekking. The top teams were raring to go after spending a restful night — since they arrived between 10:30 and 11:00 last night, they enjoyed hours in the comfort of tents and campers. That will put them at a huge advantage as they enter the frigid and fast moving waters of the Gallatin River.
Team #77 Racing With Giants continues in Primal Quest Montana as an unranked team following the withdrawal of one of the racers do to a minor, non-life threatening medical issue. The remaining members of the team are through Checkpoint 6 and are now making their way towards TA3 where they’ll begin the river boarding section.

"As a PQ racer – wannabe, I thoroughly enjoyed the website coverage you guys had! I got absolutely no nothing done at work or at home during the 10 day race!!! THANK YOU for providing such outstanding coverage! I do have to say that I think the racers handled the 100,000 of elevation changes MUCH better than the HEAT in Utah!! Any chance of PQ ever heading back to desert like conditions again? Sure makes it for a race about SURVIVAL as opposed to keeping on moving! (Yes, I love the heat!!!)"
